Great Gray Owl, Sax Zim Bog, MN (12/26/2014)
A typical hunting sequence consists of the Great Gray locking on to his target.
He then explodes towards his target.
Photographing them was really fun since they were hunting along the road and you could predict which direction he would fly based on when he locked in on his target.
I rarely was rarely quick enough to get him when he was about to land. Here's one of my successful shots that actually turned out pretty artistic (by accident).
I'm told here he is looking for the vole under the snow but no luck, the vole has escaped.
