The largest parrot in the world which is severely threatened is making a good comeback thanks to Project Hyacinth which Pousada Aguape is part of. The palms and nesting boxes in the area have really helped the numbers rebound which is great to see. Large numbers of these amazing birds frequented our lodge whereas we barely saw any in the Northern Pantanal.
They are often playing and Aditya captured this beautiful wide angle shot in the morning light.
Watching their antics is nonstop entertainment. They are also in zoos but the joy they exhibit in nature seems missing when I've seen them in captivity.
Even in flight they have that pleasant smiling look.
