Definitely one of the most spectacular hummingbirds in the world is this fellow. That he is the signature bird of Amazonia Lodge says a lot considering the lodge has the biggest bird list of any lodge in the world. There is usually one or two Coquettes cruising around the verbena bushes on the lodge grounds through the year. Without these flowers it would be very difficult to see them since they often feed at the top of the canopy and are rare. While perched the males crest is upright as shown in this picture.
