In the winter, Snow Geese number the tens of thousands at Bosque del Apache. They arrive with their young from their northern breeding grounds which they share with Artic Foxes, Polar Bears and Snowy Owls. Professional photographers from around the world photograph their flyout that takes place early in the morning. After many trips to the preserve, we finally got the perfect light to capture the flyout shot above with a beautiful sunrise. You can see the flyout starting from the flight deck in the right hand portion of the picture. Geese from other areas had already taken off and can be seen as silhouettes against the clouds.
